FAQ
Questions about AI visibility, answered plainly
Everything a Costa del Sol business owner asks before starting. No jargon, no sales pitch.
The basics
What is AI visibility?
AI visibility is whether your business gets named, accurately and favourably, when a potential customer asks an AI assistant a question related to what you do. If someone asks ChatGPT for an estate agent in Marbella and your agency is in the answer, you have AI visibility. If it is not, you are invisible at the moment a buyer is making a decision.
How is AI visibility different from SEO?
SEO gets your pages ranked in Google’s list of links. AI visibility gets your business named in the answer itself, in ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google’s AI Overviews. The two overlap: AI engines read the web, so good SEO helps. But AI also leans on reviews, directories, press and how consistently your business is described everywhere. We work on both.
Which AI engines matter for a Costa del Sol business?
Three: ChatGPT by OpenAI, Gemini by Google, and Perplexity. Google’s AI Overviews, the generated answers at the top of Google Search, are a fourth surface that sits between traditional search and AI answers. They all draw on similar sources but do not always produce the same answer. That is why we track all three.
Do I still need SEO if I focus on AI visibility?
Yes. AI engines read the web, and Google still sends significant traffic. A fast, well-structured website with clear content helps both your Google rankings and your AI visibility. The two build on each other. What changes is the goal: not just ranking in a list of links, but being named in the answer.
How it works
How does AI decide which businesses to name?
AI engines do not have a stored list of the best businesses. They generate each answer on the fly by searching the web, reading what they find, and synthesising a response. The businesses that get named are the ones the model can describe with confidence, because enough trustworthy sources describe them consistently. Sources include your website, reviews, directories, press articles, social media and government registers.
What is GEO (Generative Engine Optimisation)?
GEO is the practice of optimising your business’s presence so that generative AI engines name you in their answers. It is another name for what we call AI visibility. The work is the same: making accurate, consistent, trustworthy information about your business available across the sources the models read.
Can you guarantee my business will be named by ChatGPT?
No. AI models are trained to resist manipulation, and no one can guarantee a specific answer. What we can do is make your business easier for the models to find, describe accurately, and cite with confidence. Businesses that do this consistently over time get named more often. That is what we measure and report on.
How long before I see results?
Quick fixes, such as correcting how your business is described or adding structured data, can show up in AI answers within weeks. Earning new citations from reviews, press and directories takes longer. Most clients see a clear change within three to six months, which is why the retainer has a six-month minimum.
What we do
What does the free AI visibility check include?
A short report on what ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity say about you and three competitors, across 10 buyer questions. Free, no obligation, delivered within five working days.
What does the audit include?
40 to 50 tracked questions, competitor share of voice, the sources AI trusts in your sector and where you are missing, site and content fixes ranked by effort and impact, and a 90-day plan. About three working days, delivered as a report and a one-hour walkthrough call.
What does a retainer month look like?
Tracking your agreed buyer questions across the three engines, fixing what the tracking shows (pages, listings, structured data, profiles), writing or improving one or two pieces of citable content, chasing citations that matter, and a one-page report with a 30-minute call.
Who does the work?
Rich does. Día de Playa is a senior-only studio. There is no junior team behind the curtain. Rich has 20 years in search: Director of SEO at Expedia Group, Head of SEO at Trainline and MoneySupermarket, and AI search strategy for the AA.
Practical questions
Which businesses benefit most from AI visibility?
Businesses where a single new client pays for a year of work: estate agencies, private clinics, international schools, boutique hotels, financial advisers, lawyers and relocation firms. If your average customer value is high and your buyers research online before contacting you, AI visibility matters more.
Do you work outside the Costa del Sol?
We focus on the Costa del Sol: Malaga, Marbella, Estepona, Mijas, Nerja and the rest of the coast. If you are elsewhere in Spain and sell to international buyers, talk to us and we will see if we can help.
What does it cost?
The free check is free. The audit is €1,200 (one-off, ex IVA). The retainer starts at €550 a month (ex IVA, six-month minimum). See the services page for what each step includes.
Are calls and reports in English or Spanish?
Calls with Rich are in English. Written reports, audits and monthly reports can be in English or Spanish, as you prefer.
